Swanage Sea Rowing Club held our 5th Annual 10K Race on Sunday 5 February. The race is open to all comers and attracts entrants form all over Dorset and beyond. This year, despite bitterly cold weather and a clash with other high profile events, a healthy field of more than 100 runners turned up to compete for the trophies offered in male and female Open, Veteran and SuperVet categories, plus fastest runners from our club. The overall winner was Jack Woods, a 19 year old visitor to the town from Surrey, who signed up at the last minute and smashed our course record, coming home in just 35.24. The Ladies' winner was 16 year old Lily Cooper, in 44.28. Men's club winner was Jordi Castano, in a very creditable 48.37. Ladies' club winner was Joy Norman, who also took the Ladies Supervet title, in 54.09. After the race all competitors received a handsome medal, and free tea and cake in Swanage Town and Herston Football Club, who very kindly hosted the event.
